Buffalo Bills Mock Draft Roundup: Defense Is the Priority
Yahoo Sports (Eric Edholm) – Jayson Oweh, EDGE
We had Jayson Oweh to the Bills in a previous seven-round mock draft, so it’s safe to say that we’re fans of this pick. Oweh is far from the safest prospect in this draft, but he has one of the highest ceilings in the entire class if he actually hits. Picking at the back of the first means that all the “safe” prospects are gone, so it’s in Buffalo’s best interest to shoot for the moon and hope the coaching can bring out the best in this athletic freak.

SI (Conor Orr) – Greg Newsome II, CB
Tre’Davious White is one of the best cornerbacks in the league, but Buffalo needs to upgrade the other starting spot. Northwestern’s Greg Newsome is one of the better corners in the class and should be able to compete for a starting job right out of the gate. While durability is a bit of a concern, the defensive back has fantastic technique, ideal length, and tested very well at his Pro Day.

Establish the Run (Evan Silva) – Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is the perfect linebacker for today’s pass-happy era. While he is undersized relative to the conventional build, he’s a great hybrid player that can play both linebacker and safety. He’s fantastic against the run and has the athleticism and positional awareness to drop into man against tight ends and running backs.
CBS (Ryan Wilson) – Tyson Campbell, CB
Greg Newsome II might be the safer cornerback, but Tyson Campbell has the much higher ceiling. The man is built like an elite cornerback, and he flashes those traits every now and again. However, he still has a long way to go with his footwork and his technique does leave something to be desired. He’ll probably start his career at the third cornerback on the depth chart but has the potential to form the best cornerback duo in the league with White.
Pro Football Focus (Sam Monson) – Azeez Ojulari, EDGE
Defense gets the clean sweep in this mock draft roundup, as PFF believes the Bills should go after Georgia’s Azeez Ojulari. Ojulari is already a good run defender and should be able to earn playing time right out of the gate. However, his overall ceiling will be determined by his ability to get after the quarterback. Ojulari has the potential to be an above-average pass rusher, but he’s still learning the nuances of the position. This is the classic high-floor, medium-ceiling pick that would be great at the end of the first.
