The Buffalo Bills announced Thursday they’ve agreed to terms with Rick Dennison to become the team’s offensive coordinator. Dennison was with the Denver Broncos for the last two seasons in the same capacity.

Buffalo Bills Hire Rick Dennison as Offensive Coordinator
The Kalispell, MT native brings a wealth of Super Bowl experience to Buffalo both as a coach and a player. In addition to winning Super Bowl 50 as Broncos offensive coordinator, he also won two rings as the team’s special teams coach during their wins in Super Bowl XXXII and XXXIII.
His nine-year stint in the league as a linebacker (1982-90) also resulted in three Super Bowl appearances, all with Denver.
The Bills will be the third team Dennison has worked with as an offensive coordinator. He previously held the position with the Houston Texans from 2010-13. During his four seasons in charge, Houston finished sixth or better in total offense on two occasions.
The move is the latest by new head coach Sean McDermott aimed at assembling his coaching staff. The team hired Leslie Frazier to be its defensive coordinator last Friday. Frazier coached the Baltimore Ravens secondary in 2016 and was Minnesota Vikings head coach from 2011-13.
Dennison served as Ravens quarterbacks coach for one season in 2014 before rejoining the Broncos. That year, Baltimore finished 10-6 and made the divisional round of the AFC playoffs before falling to New England. Quarterback Joe Flacco‘s rating of 91 was the second-highest of his career.
Buffalo’s quarterback situation for 2017 remains shrouded in uncertainty. Current starter Tyrod Taylor‘s 2017 salary of $12 million plus a $15.5 million option is guaranteed for injury only. Taylor underwent sports hernia surgery on January 5th. Should he fail to pass a physical on March 11th, he’s entitled to the entire $27.5 million sum.
With the Bills hiring Dennison, there are now five NFL teams with vacancies at offensive coordinator.
