After one season in Cincinnati, Mike Daniels earned his next contract. The 31-year-old defensive lineman adds veteran experience to the roster. Daniels spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Green Bay Packers. He was released by the Packers, who avoided his $8 million cap hit after the 2018 NFL season. Then, he made a one-year stay with the Detroit Lions in 2019 on a one-year, $9.1 million deal. Daniels joined Cincinnati ahead of training camp in 2019 after Renell Wren and Josh Tupou opted out of the season.

During his time in high school, Daniels was a multi-sport athlete. In addition to football, Daniels earned acclaim as a wrestler and for his role in track and field. He threw the discus 43.77m and shotput 17.95m at the New Jersey Meet of Champions. Playing both sides of the football, Daniels also starred as a running back at Highland Regional High School. He stacked 2,203 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns at the high school level.

Daniels only received two scholarship offers to play college football as a little-known recruit. The New Jersey-native turned down an offer from Temple University to play football for the University of Iowa. He played four years for the Hawkeyes, earning Second-Team All-Big 10 honors following his senior season. Daniels recorded 13.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks during his final season with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Arriving in Green Bay in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Daniels had an immediate impact on the Packers. He played in 14 games as a rookie, recording two sacks and recording two fumbles. In 2017, Daniels earned his lone Pro Bowl nomination, tabbing five sacks and 14 quarterback hits for the Packers. Last season in Cincinnati, Daniels made 11 starts, recording 17 tackles. Daniels has 252 tackles and 30 sacks across his nine-year career.
