Five-year NFL veteran edge rusher Kyler Fackrell is signing with the Los Angeles Chargers. Fackrell, a former third-round pick, spent the 2020 season with the New York Giants and has also played with the Green Bay Packers.

Fackrell is coming off one of the most successful individual seasons of his career. After signing a one-year deal with New York in the offseason, Fackrell quickly became an important part of one of the NFL’s more underrated defenses. Appearing in 12 games while making a career-high nine starts, the edge defender finished his season with four sacks, 34 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss, and 10 quarterback hits. Additionally, he also recorded the first interception of his career, and he made it count. In Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys, Fackrell returned his first career interception 48 yards for a touchdown in the eventual 34-37 loss.
Kyler Fackrell initially entered the NFL as a third-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Even though he spent his rookie season as a backup, the Utah State product played well when on the field. Serving primarily as a situational pass-rusher, Fackrell finished his first season with two sacks, three quarterback hits, one tackle-for-loss, and 18 tackles. Additionally, the rookie added another forced fumble and broke up a pass while helping Green Bay make it all the way to the NFC Championship Game.
Fackrell’s best season to date came in 2018. Appearing in 16 games while making seven starts, the former third-round pick recorded set career-high marks in sacks (10.5), tackles (42), and quarterback hits. Unfortunately, despite Fackrell’s efforts, the Packers failed to qualify for the playoffs despite his impressive season.
Through the first five years of his career, Facell has played in 73 games while making 18 starts. During his time on the field, the Utah State product has recorded 20.5 sacks, 145 tackles, 28 tackles-for-loss, and 42 quarterback hits.
