Last season, the wide receiver hauled in 610 receiving yards, which is his lowest total across his three seasons with the Vikings.
While the team exercised his fifth-year option, the Vikings could still trade him during the 2026 campaign, especially if they endure a disaster under Kyler Murray/JJ McCarthy. The team also signed former San Francisco 49er veteran Jauan Jennings to a one-year contract, and while that might not mean much, he could be the one who outplays the former first-rounder this upcoming season. Star Justin Jefferson isn’t being moved at all unless they receive a godfather offer from a team, but the former USC product is an interesting trade candidate to watch.

The Kansas City Chiefs are rumored to target the wide receiver before Week 1. While it’s expensive for a pass-catcher like the Vikings’ WR, especially since it’s not Jefferson, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him moved somehow. However, there are other possibilities to make this trade proposal a reality, especially with QB Patrick Mahomes returning from a season-ending injury last year. The Chiefs want to ensure they’re surrounding Mahomes with all of the right weapons to bring this offense back to a Super Bowl.
With that, the team could take the risk and give up Rashee Rice, who’s been in legal trouble and hasn’t been consistent this past season. Minnesota probably won’t agree to it yet, but Kansas City could spice up the deal. The Chiefs could throw in a second-round pick instead of a first. This might be a better deal for both sides.
Addison would get a fresh start paired with Xavier Worthy, while Rice gets to join a new regime, but tagging alongside Jefferson. When could this trade happen? Don’t expect it to be a thing until right after the trade deadline, depending on how the Chiefs and Vikings are performing. The Vikings’ WR should receive plenty of interest from others if Minnesota has a faltering 2026 season, and these two teams may snag him.
