Marvin Mims may be the odd man out in Denver, as the Broncos suddenly have one of the league’s better receiving duos. A second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Mims made a name for himself as a deep threat and quickly established himself as one of the game’s top returners. A two-time Pro Bowler, the Oklahoma product has recorded 98 receptions for 1,202 yards and eight touchdowns since entering the league while averaging 15.8 yards per punt return and 26.6 yards per kick return.
Ultimately, Marvin Mims is a good player, but he might not be the best fit in Denver. The Broncos traded a first-round pick for speedster Jaylen Waddle, and he will essentially fill Mims’ role on the offense. With Courtland Sutton locked in at the other starting spot, this leaves Mims with no clear path to playing time, outside of special teams. While a good returner is still a valuable thing, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton believes Denver should consider trading him to the Atlanta Falcons.
“The Falcons don’t have a clear-cut No. 2 receiver. Jahan Dotson, Olamide Zaccheaus, and rookie third-rounder Zaccariah Branch will compete for targets behind lead wideout Drake London,” Moton writes. “Atlanta can fill that role with outside help from a receiver who’s buried on the Broncos’ depth chart…Mims knows this year could be his last in Denver. Atlanta can speed up the process and acquire him to address a glaring roster need.”
Falcons, Broncos Connected In Marvin Mims Trade Rumor
Quite frankly, this would be a perfect fit for the Atlanta Falcons. Marvin Mims is not a high-target, 1,000-yard weapon, but he won’t need to be in this environment. Former first-round pick Drake London is already the unquestioned leader of this passing attack, and the wide receiver is blossoming into one of the game’s best weapons. Atlanta just needs to find a decent WR2, and Mims fits that bill. He’s more than capable of handling a few targets per game and providing a legitimate deep threat to this passing attack, which is all Atlanta needs. As an added bonus, he has a similar skillset to Jaylen Waddle (although he’s not as good), which could lead to a quick connection with presumed starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
The only question is whether the Broncos would be willing to trade him. Denver has more than enough talent at the wide receiver position, but they don’t have a returner nearly as dangerous as Marvin Mims. The Broncos likely would have made the Super Bowl last year were it not for the Bo Nix ankle injury, so they’re all-in on the 2026 season. Unless the Falcons surrender a notable draft pick, Mims probably won’t be going anywhere.
