Ty Simpson was the 13th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft when the Los Angeles Rams shockingly selected him. There were some rumors that Simpson might go towards the end of the 1st Round, but no one thought he would be drafted inside the top 15. What is Ty Simpson’s dynasty outlook as he gets to sit behind the reigning MVP Matthew Stafford as the Rams have another Super Bowl in their sights?
Dynasty Outlook for Rams Quarterback Ty Simpson
College Production
Simpson spent four seasons at Alabama, but only one season as the starter. In his final season, he started in all 15 games for the Crimson Tide, having a 64.5% completion percentage, 3567 passing yards, 28 touchdown passes, and just 5 interceptions. He did not have many starts, but the Rams view him as the future once Stafford retires.
Los Angeles Rams Selection
Simpson was not going to be ready to start Week 1 for any NFL Team due to his lack of college experience. He was always seen as a project, who would have to sit behind someone for at least a year or two before getting the chance to start. The Rams could not have been a better landing spot for Simpson. He gets to learn behind one of the best offensive-minded head coaches in the game, Sean McVay, and from the reigning NFL MVP, Stafford. This situation is getting a lot of comparisons to Jordan Love sitting behind Aaron Rodgers for a few years, and that could definitely be the case.

Simpson could have gone to the Jets, where he would be under a lot of pressure and set up to fail. He gets to relax on the Rams bench for a year or two and take in a lot of knowledge before getting the chance to prove he deserved that top 15 pick.
Simpson Dynasty Value
According to KeepTradeCut, a website that crowdsources dynasty values from players who use the site, Simpson is the QB28. He is ranked behind Daniel Jones, Malik Willis, and Matthew Stafford, while ahead of Michael Penix Jr., J.J. McCarthy, and Shedeur Sanders. I expect Simpson to move up the ranks a little bit once dynasty managers are able to react to this great landing spot.
Simpson Dynasty Rookie Draft
Simpson will be the 2nd quarterback taken in dynasty rookie drafts; only Fernando Mendoza will be taken higher than him. In superflex leagues, Jeremiyah Love, Carnell Tate, Jordyn Tyson, Jadarian Price, and Makai Lemon will all be taken ahead of Simpson. Simpson’s range starts at 1.07, where he is in the tier with Kenyon Sadiq, KC Concepcion, and Omar Cooper Jr. In non-superflex leagues, I expect him to go after all those guys, but still be drafted as a late-first-round pick in dynasty rookie drafts.
Simpson Dynasty Outlook
Simpson has no fantasy relevance in 2026, but his long-term dynasty outlook in Los Angeles is amazing. There might not be a better head coach – QB pairing in the league to learn from right now than McVay and Stafford. Additionally, he will get to play with superstar wide receiver Puka Nacua. It will take a few years for Simpson to take the field, but when he does, he will be in a great position to succeed.
