The New Orleans Saints used their first-round pick on wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, but that doesn’t mean they’re out of the Brandon Aiyuk trade sweepstakes. On paper, New Orleans has a high-ceiling wide receiver duo with Tyson joining the proven Chris Olave. However, Tyson has yet to play a snap in the NFL, comes with his fair share of injuries, and Olave doesn’t have the cleanest bill of health. This team could use a veteran presence, especially considering New Orleans doesn’t have much depth behind those two.
In a recent article, Bleacher Report‘s Julia Slumbaugh made her case for why the Saints should at least consider a Brandon Aiyuk trade. For what it’s worth, General Manager John Lynch said he is open to trading Aiyuk, and his language suggests he’d take just about anyone for him.
“The New Orleans Saints are heading into the draft with just eight total picks, but the franchise could still consider using some of that capital to make a deal for Aiyuk in order to build around Tyler Shough by adding another experienced wideout alongside Chris Olave.”
Saints, 49ers Connected In Brandon Aiyuk Trade Rumors
Brandon Aiyuk is a talented player, but it’s easy to see why the 49ers are willing to trade him for pennies on the dollar. Originally a first-round pick, the Arizona product cashed in following a dominant 2023 where he recorded over 1,300 receiving yards while helping the team reach the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, San Francisco immediately regretted the decision to extend him, as injuries limited him to just seven games in 2024. He proceeded to miss the entire 2025 season while going AWOL on the team, forcing the 49ers to void the guaranteed money in his contract.
Perhaps Aiyuk can still be a good player when on the field, but it’s clear his relationship with the 49ers is too fractured to fix. Aiyuk’s recent antics (understandably) have the other 31 teams unwilling to give up much of anything for his services, so perhaps New Orleans could send a late-round pick for the troubled wideout. If nothing else, he’d be a decent medium-risk, high-reward investment for a team looking to win the NFC South and return to the playoffs for the first time since Drew Brees called it a career.
