After making a rare divisional trade with the Dallas Cowboys to select USC Makai Lemon, this likely puts icing on the cake for the Philadelphia Eagles to move on from WR AJ Brown. In a shocking twist, the Eagles are adding their fourth receiver this offseason, so a trade involving Brown will likely come as early as expected in June. Despite signing Marquise Brown and trading for Dontayvion Wicks this offseason, the team decided to go with Lemon. While the Patriots haven’t fully committed to acquiring Brown, there are multiple ways the Eagles could get rid of Brown via a trade.
Originally selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Ole Miss product has shown frustration on multiple occasions this past season. From usage to being unhappy, the relationship between the two has been strained for too long, and it’s time for both to move on.
Eagles 2026 First-Round Selection of Makai Lemon Likely Spells All-Pro AJ Brown Trade
Even if the Eagles don’t get their way with the Patriots this offseason, the team might explicitly state that Brown is available for a trade. While the team has downplayed that they aren’t moving on from the veteran, the moves they’ve been making are very telling. The Eagles have a handful of receivers waiting for a larger role, including Elijah Moore.
If the Eagles don’t make it known that Brown is available, he could make an official request himself. The receiver should be able to net a lot of trade interest, so here are three teams that could target him for the rest of the NFL Draft.
Potential Next Teams
Los Angeles Chargers
Despite adding edge rusher Akheem Mesidor to strengthen the pass-rush, the Los Angeles Chargers can’t miss upgrading their offense. Justin Herbert is too talented, and Jim Harbaugh must realize that this offense will only be successful if they’re throwing the football just as much on the run game. Quentin Johnston might’ve shown some improvement, but the Chargers can’t keep waiting around, especially for KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris.
Brown would get the exclusive treatment in Los Angeles as the new WR1 and replace current free agent Keenan Allen as their new long-term weapon for this offense.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Meanwhile, the Steelers have been rumored to trade DK Metcalf. It might’ve made it easier for the Steelers to move Metcalf for Brown, but the Eagles have too many receivers. However, with Metcalf and already trading Michael Pittman Jr., the team acquiring Brown could finally intrigue Aaron Rodgers to make a decision sooner rather than later. This team would be on fire, especially with head coach Mike McCarthy as the leader.
Indianapolis Colts
Speaking of Pittman, the Colts were forced to move on, but if the team is itching for a superstar addition, they should make it happen for Brown. Alec Pierce signed his new blockbuster deal, but he’s dealing with an injury this offseason. No time to panic for the Colts, but if they want to make a move to address the WR concerns to help Josh Downs, Brown might be the right fit.
