Four-year veteran cornerback Tariq Woolen signed a new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Woolen, a former fifth-round pick and reigning Super Bowl champion, spent his entire career with the Seattle Seahawks. Woolen joins the Eagles after agreeing to a one-year deal worth $15 million.

Tariq Woolen hasn’t recaptured his rookie form under new head coach Mike Macdonald, and that unfortunate trend carried into 2025. Appearing in 16 games while making seven starts, Woolen finished the season with one interception, 12 passes defended, 41 tackles, one tackle-for-loss, and a 59.8 PFF grade, the worst mark of his career and the 66th-best in the league. Despite his relative struggles, however, the Seahawks still won the Super Bowl, defeating the New England Patriots in blowout fashion.
Woolen originally entered the league as a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Selected by the Seattle Seahawks, the USTA product immediately outplayed his draft capital. Starting and appearing in all 17 games, the rookie finished his inaugural season with a league-best six interceptions, 16 passes defended, 63 tackles, one tackle-for-loss, and a 69.1 PFF grade. This impressive campaign earned him Pro Bowl honors and a third-place finish in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.
The cornerback maintained his starting job in 2023 and had another solid season. While he didn’t replicate his guady interception total, he still finished the season with two picks, 11 passes defended, 53 tackles, one tackle-for-loss, and a 67.1 PFF grade. Despite his strong play, Seattle narrowly missed the playoffs and fired head coach Pete Carroll following the season.
Head coach Mike Macdonald took over following Carroll’s departure, and Woolen still held on to his starting job. Appearing in 15 games while making 14 starts, the cornerback recorded three interceptions, 14 passes defended, 46 tackles, and a 67.9 PFF grade. Once again, Seattle finished the season with a winning record but missed the playoffs.
Since signing his rookie contract, Tariq Woolen has recorded 12 interceptions, 40 passes defended, and 203 tackles.
