Travis Etienne Contract

New Orleans Saints Sign 1,100-Yard Rusher; Alvin Kamara Gone?

Five-year veteran running back Travis Etienne signed a new contract with the New Orleans Saints. Etienne, a former first-round pick, spent the entirety of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The 2025 season was probably the best of Etienne’s career, as first-year head coach Liam Coen knew how to get the most out of the star running back. Starting and appearing in all 17 games, the Clemson product finished the season with 1,107 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 260 attempts (4.3 yards per attempt) while adding another 36 receptions for 292 yards and six touchdowns through the air. The Jaguars had a great season under Coen, winning the AFC South and hosting a playoff game. However, they went one-and-done with a last-second loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Travis Etienne originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Clemson product entered the league with fellow collegiate teammate Trevor Lawrence. Unfortunately, Etienne’s rookie season ended before it truly began, as a foot injury sidelined him for the entire campaign. Jacksonville struggled in his absence and finished with the first-overall pick after firing head coach Urban Meyer.

Etienne finally made his NFL debut in 2021 and had a fantastic season under head coach Doug Pederson. Appearing in all 17 games, the running back finished the year with 1,125 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 220 attempts. Jacksonville had an impresive turnaround, making the playoffs and even winning a postseason matchup before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional round. He continued to impress in 2023, recording 1,008 yards and a career-best 11 touchdowns in 2023. Unfortunately, the team missed the playoffs due to a late-season collapse.

Since signing his rookie contract, Travis Etienne has appeared in 66 games while making 60 starts. While on the field, the running back recorded 3,798 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns.
