J.K. Dobbins Injury

J.K. Dobbins Injury Update: Broncos RB Ruled OUT For AFC Championship Game

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins returned to practice this week, but he’ll need some more time before he officially returns from his foot injury. While he returned to the practice field, the team officially ruled him out, as he’s not quite back to 100%.

J.K. Dobbins Injury Update: Broncos RB Won’t Play Against Patriots

This injury is not new for Dobbins, as the Broncos running back originally suffered the ailment in the regular season. Forced onto the injured reserve, Dobbins had a chance to return for the AFC Championship, but apparently needs a bit more time before he’s ready to play. If the Broncos beat the New England Patriots, he will likely be healthy enough to play in the Super Bowl.

With Dobbins sidelined, the Broncos will place their rushing attack in the hands of rookie RJ Harvey and veteran Jaleel McLaughlin. Harvey came on strong down the stretch and has done an adequate job filling in for Dobbins. Appearing in all 17 games, the rookie recorded 540 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 146 attempts while adding another 356 yards and five touchdowns in the passing game. McLaughlin, meanwhile, finished the season with just 187 rushing yards and one touchdown but is Harvey’s clear backup.

Denver will likely put even more focus on their running game after starting quarterback Bo Nix suffered a season-ending ankle injury against the Buffalo Bills. Jarrett Stidham, a longtime backup and former New England Patriots draft pick, will start in his place. The Auburn product has never played in the regular season but has made four starts throughout his NFL career. During his time on the field, the veteran has completed 59.4% of his passes for 1,422 yards, eight touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He spent the past three seasons in Denver but hasn’t attempted a regular season pass since Bo Nix joined the squad.
