The injury occurred on the second-to-last play of overtime, and Nix is planning to have surgery on Tuesday in Birmingham, Alabama, according to Schefter. “We felt it was best to tell everyone now,” Broncos head coach Sean Payton said in a post-game press conference regarding the time of the announcement.

Nix completed 26 of his 46 passing attempts for 279 yards, throwing three touchdowns, playing a vital role in the Broncos’ offensive performance. Despite the injury, Denver fought hard in overtime, doing whatever it took to secure the win.
