Zach Charbonnet Injury Update: Seahawks HC Gives Update on Damaged Knee

Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet suffered a knee injury during the team’s blowout win over the San Francisco 49ers, but it doesn’t sound like the team is too concerned about his condition. According to head coach Mike Macdonald, Charbonnet will undergo an MRI, but the organization is “optimistic” that his knee is structurally intact and isn’t season-ending.

Zach Charbonnet Injury Update: Seahawks RB Hurts Knee Against 49ers

This is great news for the Seahawks, as the team could use all the help it can get as the team chases a Super Bowl title. While Charbonnet technically didn’t start a single game this year, he’s been a key part of the rushing attack throughout the season. Appearing in 16 games, the former second-round pick finished the season with 730 yards and 12 touchdowns on 184 attempts (4.0 yards per carry) while adding 20 receptions for 144 yards on 24 targets in the passing game. When paired with Kenneth Walker, the two formed one of the league’s stronger rushing attacks.

It’s important to note that, even if Zach Charbonnet didn’t suffer a season-ending injury, he will probably have to play through some pain. Only time will tell if he’s able to suit up for the NFC Championship Game next week, or the Super Bowl if they take it that far.

After defeating the San Francisco 49ers, the Seattle Seahawks will face off against tonight’s winner of the Bears-Rams game. The Chicago Bears went from worst to first in the NFC North, led by first-year head coach Ben Johnson and former first-overall pick Caleb Williams. The Los Angeles Rams, meanwhile, are led by presumptive MVP Matthew Stafford, All-Pro wide receiver Puka Nacua, and one of the game’s better head coaches in Sean McVay. The Seahawks and Rams split their two regular season contests, with both games going down to the wire.
