Chargers Coach Named Top Candidate To Replace John Harbaugh

The Baltimore Ravens are looking for a new head coach for the first time in almost two decades, and one NFL analyst believes the team will target Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter. Following John Harbaugh’s departure, the Ravens should be able to land just about anyone they want for their vacant head coach position. After all, this team has a two-time MVP in Lamar Jackson, one of the most talented rosters in football, and stable ownership with a proven track record of success.

While the Ravens still have to orchestrate interviews and go through the hiring process, Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay believes Jesse Minter is the best candidate for the Baltimore Ravens. In a recent article, the NFL analyst made his case for why the Ravens should hire the 42-year-old.

“Minter, 42, has spent the last two seasons working as the Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator under head coach Jim Harbaugh,” Kay writes. “Since assuming the role, the Botls have never ranked below No. 11 in total defense or No. 9 in scoring defense while reaching the playoffs in each of those two seasons.”

Ravens Could Target Chargers DC Jesse Minter For Head Coach Opening

Even if the Ravens hire Jesse Minter, it won’t happen in the next few days. Teams are not allowed to interview coaches playing in the Wild Card round, and the Chargers are currently preparing to face off against the New England Patriots on Sunday. However, with that disclaimer out of the way, it’s easy to see why Baltimore would be interested in the defensive coordinator.

Minter’s tenure with Los Angeles has been impressive, as he’s found a way to get great results out of defense despite playing in a competitive division and not always having elite talent. He’d be a natural fit for this organization, and the presence of Lamar Jackson means the Ravens won’t need to worry about his lack of experience with developing quarterbacks.
