Lamar Jackson Injury Update: Ravens Star QB Could Miss Week 17

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson suffered a back injury against the New England Patriots, and it could keep the two-time NFL MVP sidelined for Week 17’s contest against the Green Bay Packers. The team released an estimated practice report and listed Jackson as a “Did Not Practice.”

Lamar Jackson Injury Update: Ravens QB Could Miss Week 17 With Back Injury

If the back injury sidelines Lamar Jackson, the Ravens will entrust Tyler Huntley to keep their season alive. The longtime journeyman has appeared in four games this season, making one start while completing 76.6% of his passes for 319 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. He played in relief of Jackson last week against the Patriots and completed nine of his 10 attempts for 65 yards.

Baltimore remains in the playoff race, but it’ll need some help to play meaningful football in January. The Ravens must win against the Packers this week and take down the Steelers in Week 18, while the Steelers need to lose the aforementioned season finale and Week 17’s matchup against the 3-12 Cleveland Browns. With or without Jackson, the Ravens face an uphill battle to reach the postseason.

This back injury is just the latest setback in a disappointing season for Lamar Jackson. The four-time Pro Bowler has battled a series of injuries throughout the season and has limited him to just 12 games. During his 12 starts, Jackson has gone 6-6 while completing 63.7% of his passes for 2,311 yards, 18 touchdowns, and six interceptions while adding 340 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. By just about every metric, this has been one of the weaker seasons of his career.

There is a chance that we’ve seen the last of Jackson in 2025. If the Ravens have nothing to play for in Week 18, they probably won’t risk exposing their franchise quarterback to additional injuries.
