The Tennessee Titans used the first-overall pick on quarterback Cam Ward, but they still have no idea if he can be a franchise quarterback. While his traditional box score numbers leave a lot to be desired, no rookie could succeed in this disastrous environment. The team already fired head coach Brian Callahan, the offensive line is one of the worst in the league, and the pass catchers are either untested depth pieces or past their prime veterans.
Maybe Cam Ward doesn’t have what it takes to succeed in the NFL, but the Titans will never know for sure until they give him the tools to succeed. George Pickens won’t fix this roster all by himself, but the Cowboys receiver won’t need to. The Titans are projected to have over $108 million in cap space, which is more than enough money to sign Pickens and invest in the offensive line.
