The idea of Simmons playing for his hometown team wouldn’t be the worst, as the Commanders could still make a run for the playoffs, but for next season. If no team decides to take a chance on Simmons, he might have to suit up to strengthen this Commanders defense, that one of the worst. While they did face injuries to Dorance Armstrong Jr., it can’t compensate way how cornerback Marshon Lattimore played. With Lattimore likely to be gone after this year, Simmons could be the latest known name to join the Commanders this upcoming offseason to help streamline this secondary alongside Darnell Savage.
