Cooper Kupp Injury Update: Star WR’s Status Revealed Ahead of Seahawks-Commanders

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Cooper Kupp is battling a hamstring injury that could sideline him for Sunday’s contest against the Washington Commanders. While he has not been officially ruled out, ESPN’s Adam Schefter says he is “unlikely to play” in Week 9.

Cooper Kupp Injury Update: Seahawks WR “Unlikely to Play” Against Commanders

After spending the first eight years of his career with the Los Angeles Rams, Cooper Kupp joined the Seahawks after the Rams cut him in a salary-related move. Brought in alongside veteran Sam Darnold, the one-time All-Pro has been an important part of the passing attack. While he’s been overshadowed by superstar Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Kupp has been reasonably productive, hauling in 24 receptions for 293 yards and one touchdown on 33 targets through seven games. He’s not the player he once was, but he still provides a reliable set of hands when on the field.

Cooper Kupp is not the only injury the Seahawks must overcome, as Seattle will also be without receivers Jake Bobo and Dareke Young in Week 9. This means Darnold will likely target Smith-Njigba early and often against a suspect Washington Commanders defense.

At 3-5, the Washington Commanders desperately need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Following one of the better rookie seasons in recent memory, quarterback Jayden Daniels has battled injuries throughout the 2025 season. While he’s still one of the game’s better quarterbacks, he hasn’t made the Year 2 leap and is struggling to compensate for a flawed roster. Washington’s odds of winning the division are slim to none, but they can still earn a Wild Card spot if they finish the season strong. The Seahawks, meanwhile, lead the NFC West with a 5-2 record, but they may struggle to defend their divisional lead with Cooper Kupp sidelined to injury.
