7. Iowa State

The Week 8 Bye week came at the perfect time for Rocco Becht and the Cyclones. With all of the injuries that they had on both sides of the ball, it allowed them a little time to get healthy. It also gave an extra week of preparation as BYU travels to Ames in Week 9 for a classic hangover game after their victory over Utah.
8. Baylor

The Baylor Bears remind me of a power-conference bubble team in College Basketball. They don’t have any marquee wins, but they also have no bad losses, and all of those losses have been close contests. Essentially, Sawyer Robertson and the rest of the offense are good enough to keep any game close, but have yet to break through for a big win.
9. Kansas State

The Wildcats were off in Week 8 before playing their in-state rival, Kansas, in Week 9. I really do think this team is starting to rebound closer to their preseason projection near the top of the conference, and a big reason why is the improved and safer play of QB Avery Johnson.
