Zac Taylor Bengals Coach

Zac Taylor Speaks On Bengals Quarterbacks, Potential Trade

Zac Taylor and the Cincinnati Bengals are in a tailspin, going 0-2 in two games without Joe Burrow while looking remarkably uncompetitive. While there are issues with large portions of the roster, the biggest concern is the quarterback position. Backup quarterback Jake Browning has not played well in relief of Burrow, and some believe the team should look for a new option under center.

However, Taylor is not one of those people. In a recent interview, the head coach stood up for his current quarterback and praised his abilities.

“I’ve got a ton of confidence in Jake,” Taylor said. “I’m unwavering in that. I’ve seen the best of Jake. I know that we can do a great job supporting him to where he can go win games for us.”

The Bengals fell to 2-2 with a 28-3 loss to the Broncos.

Bengals Zac Taylor Stands Behind QB Jake Browning

While Browning has made two starts this year, he also saw most of the action in Week 2’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. So far this season, the third-year veteran has completed 64.3% of his passes for 506 yards, three touchdowns, and five interceptions. The Bengals have lost his two starts by a combined score of 76-13. Again, Browning is not the only problem with this team, but it’s clear they can’t compete with him under center.

Browning first made a name for himself in 2023. Starting in place of an injured Joe Burrow, the quarterback made seven starts while completing 70.4% of his passes for 1,936 yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Zac Taylor and the Bengals went 4-3 with Browning running the offense that year.
