Jalen Ramsey Trade

BREAKING: Miami Dolphins Trade Jalen Ramsey to Pittsburgh Steelers

The Miami Dolphins have officially agreed to a trade that will send star cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ramsey, a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, spent the 2024 season with Miami but has also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Rams.

Despite playing in his age-30 season, Jalen Ramsey remained one of the league’s better cornerbacks in 2024. Starting and appearing in all 17 games, the former first-round pick finished the season with two interceptions, 11 passes defended, one sack, 60 tackles, six tackles-for-loss, four quarterback hits, and a 76.9 PFF grade, the 10th-best mark among eligible cornerbacks. Despite his strong play, Miami missed the playoffs and the cash-strapped Dolphins had no choice but to trade Jalen Ramsey in the offseason.

Ramsey originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Florida State product was one of the few bright spots on an otherwise disastrous Jaguars roster. Starting in all 16 games, the rookie finished his inaugural season with two interceptions, 14 passes defended, one forced fumble, 65 tackles, and two tackles-for-loss. Despite the Jaguars finishing with a 3-13 record, Ramsey still finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

After that disappointing campaign, Ramsey helped guide the Jaguars on an unlikely trip to the AFC Championship Game. Holding down the secondary on the “Sacksonville” defense, the cornerback finished the year with the NFL’s highest PFF grade and earned First-Team All-Pro honors and a spot on the Pro Bowl roster. Unfortunately, while the team went on a deep playoff run, they ultimately fell short to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Ramsey remained productive with the Jaguars over the next season and a half. However, with his rookie contract set to expire, the rebuilding Jaguars traded him to the Los Angeles Rams for two first-round picks and a fourth-round selection. Ramsey spent four season with Los Angeles, earning First-Team All-Pro twice while making four Pro Bowls.
