“Go Get Him, Eric” – Ravens Lamar Jackson Wants This Free Agent

Former Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander is perhaps the top player remaining on the free agent market, and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson wants his team to pursue the veteran. A first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Alexander quickly became one of the league’s better cornerbacks, earning two trips to the Pro Bowl while being the most consistent member of Green Bay’s defense.

While he is still a good player when on the field, injuries limited the cornerback to a combined 14 games over the past two seasons. Now entering his age-28 season, the Packers released him after the two sides couldn’t agree to a revised contract. Still a free agent, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson begged General Manager Eric DeCosta to sign Jaire Alexander and noted that he already reached out to the potential lockdown cornerback.

Lamar Jackson Wants Ravens to Sign Jaire Alexander

The Baltimore Ravens already have a good secondary, but you can never have too many reliable cornerbacks. 2024 first-round pick Nate Wiggins came alive last year and could break out in Year 2, while veteran cornerback Marlon Humphrey remains one of the game’s better options in the slot. However, this could use another outside starter, as Chidobe Awuzie is nothing special and is better off in a depth chart.

If Jaire Alexander can stay healthy (an admittedly big ‘if’), he could be the missing piece to finally get Lamar Jackson and the Ravens to the Super Bowl. The team narrowly missed the opportunity after losing in the AFC Divisional Round in 2024 and the AFC Championship Game in 2023, but they have the talent to win it all. Taking down the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and the other elite squads of the AFC won’t be easy, but Alexander could help this talented roster make the long-awaited next step.
