Prior to his injury, Chris Godwin was in the midst of arguably the best season of his impressive career. Paired with quarterback Baker Mayfield and first-year offensive coordinator Liam Coen, the wide receiver recorded 50 receptions for 576 yards and five touchdowns through the season’s first seven games. Unfortunately, Godwin suffered a season-ending ankle injury late in Tampa Bay’s 41-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. At the time of his injury, Godwin led the league in receptions and was second in receiving yards.

Chris Godwin originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Penn State product spent the first two years of his career as a promising pass-catcher on a loaded wide receiver depth chart. He finally had his chance to break out in 2019 and made the most of it. Starting and appearing in 14 games, the wide receiver finished the season with 86 receptions for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns while earning the first Pro Bowl selection of his career.

Following that breakout season, Godwin teamed up with superstar quarterback Tom Brady. Playing alongside Mike Evans, Godwin played in 12 games while recording 65 receptions for 840 yards and seven touchdowns. With Brady’s help, Godwin and company won Super Bowl 55 in blowout fashion against the Kansas City Chiefs. One year later, Godwin recorded 98 receptions for 1,102 yards and five touchdowns before tearing his ACL late in the season. Despite his injury, the Buccaneers rewarded Godwin with a three-year, $60 million contract.

Since signing his rookie contract, Chris Godwin has appeared in 111 games while making 84 starts. During his time on the field, the Penn State product has recorded 579 receptions for 7,266 yards and 39 touchdowns on 816 targets.
