Titans Trade Harold Landry

Breaking: Titans Grant Pro Bowler Permission to Seek Trade

After seven seasons with Tennessee, the Titans are exploring the trade market for edge defender Harold Landry. A second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Landry earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2021 and recorded at least nine sacks in four of his previous five healthy seasons. He remained productive in 2024, recording nine sacks, 71 tackles, 15 tackles-for-loss, 15 quarterback hits, and a 70.5 PFF grade, the 35th-best mark out of 119 eligible players.

Landry is still a good player, but he might not have a future with the Tennessee Titans. Now entering his age-29 season, the Boston College product carries a $25.05 million cap hit and has no more guaranteed money remaining on his contract. The Titans can save $10.95 million in cap space by trading the veteran, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Titans have permitted Harold Landry to seek a trade.

Schefter: Titans Permit Harold Landry To Seek Trade

Landry will probably want a revised contract when he finds a new home because he’s all out of guaranteed money. The Tennessee Titans are not in a position to make this offer, as the team finished with the first-overall pick and is staring down a long, painful rebuild. However, the Titans should be able to trade Harold Landry to a contender, as good pass rushers are hard to find. Several win-now teams should be interested in the Pro Bowler, but these five make the most sense as potential destinations.

Possible Fits

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are at their best when they have three capable edge defenders who can get at the quarterback at any given moment. Former first-round pick Odafe Oweh should be a fixture of the defense and veteran Kyle Van Noy will return for at least one more season, but they could use a third option. The Titans and Ravens should be able to work out the details of a Harold Landry trade, as the pass rusher could give Baltimore the deepest group of edge defenders in football and could replace Van Noy if he retires after 2025.

Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons have the offensive talent to make some noise in 2025. First-round pick Michael Penix looked like the real deal last year, Drake London and Bijan Robinson are dangerous weapons, and the offensive line is reliable. However, none of that will matter if the defense doesn’t improve. With Matthew Judon unlikely to return after a disappointing 2024, the Titans could trade Harold Landry to the up-and-coming Falcons to be the missing piece on this defense.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers defensive line could look dramatically different in 2025. Veteran Khalil Mack is a free agent and former first-round pick Joey Bosa is a probable cap casualty. While the team could re-sign Mack with their excessive cap space, they must find another high-end starter. Head coach Jim Harbaugh believes in winning games in the trenches, and a Harold Landry trade should fortify a defense that must compete in arguably the NFL’s toughest division.

Kansas City Chiefs

Some organizations don’t want to trade with perennial championship contenders like the Kansas City Chiefs, but Tennessee is not one of those organizations. The Titans and Chiefs agreed to a DeAndre Hopkins trade last year, so history could repeat itself with Harold Landry. Former first-round pick George Karlaftis is a quality starter, but the Chiefs must find a better pass-rushing partner on the outside. The Josh Uche trade was a disaster and former first-round pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah looks like a bust. Landry will provide some much-needed stability to the edge defender position and could help Travis Kelce retire on top.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals won’t be able to trade for Harold Landry if they extend Tee Higgins and give edge defender Trey Hendrickson a raise. However, if they want to fix their disastrous defense, they could reach out to the Titans about a Harold Landry trade. Cincinnati will struggle to retain Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase, and Joe Burrow while building a competitive roster, and Higgins is the weakest link of the three. Perhaps the Bengals can trade Higgins to Tennessee in exchange for Landry and a mid-round draft pick.
