After leading the league in rushing during the 2022 campaign, Josh Jacobs had a disappointing 2023 while playing on a revised one-year contract. The running back held out in hopes for a long-term deal, and perhaps this missed portion of training camp led to the underwhelming campaign. In total, Jacobs played in just 13 games, recording 805 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 233 carries (3.5 yards per carry) while adding an additional 37 receptions for 296 yards through the air.

Josh Jacobs originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Selected by the then-Oakland Raiders, the Alabama product immediately took control of the team’s backfield. Starting and appearing in 13 games, Jacobs finished his inaugural campaign with 1,150 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 242 attempts.

Jacobs built on this promising debut with an equally strong 2020. Starting in 15 games, the running back finished with 1,065 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 273 carries to go along with 33 receptions for 238 yards. Even though Vegas did not make the playoffs, Jacobs still managed to earn the first Pro Bowl selection of his career.

Following a relatively underwhelming 2021, the Raiders declined the fifth-year option on Josh Jacobs’ contract. This proved to be a poor decision, as Jacobs responded with the best season of his career. Starting all 17 games, the first-round pick recorded a league-high 1,653 yards and 12 touchdowns on a staggering 340 carries. This amazing campaign earned him First-Team All-Pro honors, as well as a spot on the Pro Bowl roster. The Raiders eventually used the franchise tag to keep him around before signing him to a revised one-year extension.

Since signing his rookie contract, Josh Jacobs has recorded 5,545 rushing yards and 46 touchdowns on 1,306 carries.
