After a heartfelt farewell in the Titans final game, Derrick Henry is set to hit free agency. While it originally felt like he could return to Tennessee to ride into the sunset, his speech to finish the game makes his departure feel all too real. He likely wants to play for a contender and be a part of a Super Bowl run. With that in mind, here are some of the best landing spots for Derrick Henry in free agency in 2024.
Derrick Henry Free Agency Landing Spots
Philadelphia Eagles
In the middle of their playoff run, the Eagles have a track record of recycling old running backs. Between trading for D’Andre Swift for pennies on the dollar and signing Rashaad Penny to see if any gas was left in the tank, they have an empty room in 2024. Henry is estimated to be worth $4.3 million according to Spotrac, and the Eagles have plenty of room to sign the trusty vet. He could have a monster 2024 behind one of the best offensive lines in football.
Baltimore Ravens
Let’s take a quick peek at the Ravens 2024 running backs. First, Keaton Mitchell the UDFA recovering from an ACL tear. Then there’s Justice Hill who has fewer yards in his four-year career than Henry had this season. Imagine defenses having to account for Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry in the backfield. Admittedly they’re a little tighter on cap space at just over $12 million, but they can make room. If they don’t go for Henry, they could still look to draft Cody Schrader late for the nerfed version of Henry.

Kansas City Chiefs
Undoubtedly, Isiah Pacheco rocks. Even if he’s the guy, the Chiefs could add another weapon to the arsenal with a cheap Derrick Henry contract. Pacheco and Henry have similar skillsets, but injuries plague this league and the depth could be a welcome addition. The team has plenty of space, and there’s not a lot of competitors with a better pitch than “Come play with Patrick Mahomes”.
Dallas Cowboys
Tony Pollard needs help. Evidently he thrived as a change of pace back, not as a between the tackles thumper. Is there a better thumper in the game than Derrick Henry? He would be a perfect addition in 2024 free agency, and Jerry Jones loves to add star power to his team when able (pun very intended).
Honorable Mentions
Houston Texans
Who would have predicted the Houston Texans would be a playoff team in 2023? Well, this guy did, but no one else would have. As they look to 2024, Dameon Pierce doesn’t have the same pop that many expected and Devin Singletary is far from a difference maker. Titans fans would riot, but if he wants to go to a contender with a real shot, Houston makes a ton of sense otherwise.
Buffalo Bills
If Henry isn’t looking for the same workload and is just looking to be part of a run, Buffalo fits like a glove. Josh Allen, snow games, take the between the 20s work from James Cook who can move back into a scat back role, there’s a lot of reasons it would be enticing. One fairly large problem. The Bills sit $41 million over the cap in 2024 already.
