NFL Rumors: Anthony Richardson Injury, Alvin Kamara, Mark Andrews

Anthony Richardson Expected to Be Sidelined “A Month or More” With Shoulder Injury

Anthony Richardson has played in four games throughout his NFL career and has suffered some type of injury in three of them. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the rookie quarterback has reportedly suffered a Grade 3 AC joint sprain, which will sideline him for a month or more.

It’s important to note that, as of this writing, this diagnosis is not yet confirmed. Richardson is set to receive an MRI on Monday morning, but nobody seems particularly optimistic about the expected results.

In his absence, Gardner Minshew will step up and start for the 3-2 Indianapolis Colts. The journeyman quarterback has played well in limited action this far, completing 57 of his 83 attempts for 553 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. While Richardson offers more upside, Minshew is more than capable of keeping the ship afloat until he returns.

Seeing as this is the third injury in Anthony Richardson’s young career, the quarterback might need to start thinking about changing his style of play. The fourth-overall pick entered the league as an athletic freak, but if his body can’t handle NFL hits, then he’ll need to adjust and learn to avoid contact.

Alvin Kamara Sets Franchise Record in Blowout Win

The New Orleans Saints had what was easily their best game of the season in Week 5, going on the road and dominating the New England Patriots 34-0. While this game was obviously huge for the team, it also marked a significant achievement for arguably their best player. Running back Alvin Kamara scored his 73rd career touchdown in the blowout win, giving him sole possession of the most touchdowns in franchise history.

Kamara originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Selected out of Tennessee, the running back wasted no time in outplaying his draft slot. Alvin Kamara made five consecutive Pro Bowls to start his career while establishing himself as one of the most dangerous dual-threat players in the league. While he has lost a step since his peak, Sunday’s performance showed that he can still be dangerous and will remain one of the best players in franchise history.

Mark Andrews Unloads After Disappointing Loss

One of the biggest upsets of Week 5 came when the Pittsburgh Steelers took down the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers entered the game with a banged-up Kenny Pickett and a struggling offense, while the Ravens were as healthy as they’ve been all season. Despite this, the team still lost, 17-10, and tight end Mark Andrews was not thrilled after the game.

“It’s almost like a sleeping giant, man. We need to wake up.” Andrews said to The Athletic‘s Jeff Zrebiec. “This is a tough game to lose, because you feel like you controlled the whole game. We felt like we could do what we wanted and impose our will, and we still lost the game.”

Quite frankly, this is a fair assessment. The Steelers gave the Ravens every opportunity in the world to win this game, but Baltimore simply refused to do so. Between drops, special teams mishaps, and one of the worst halftime miscommunications you’ll ever see, the Ravens went out of their way to lose a perfectly winnable game. In a tight division like the AFC North, this could have long-lasting playoff implications.
