Predicting Every Game on the Philadelphia Eagles Schedule

The NFL has released the Philadelphia Eagles schedule, and the reigning NFC champions should have their hands full in 2023
Philadelphia Eagles Schedule

The NFL has released the Philadelphia Eagles schedule, which means that fans of the franchise are officially one step closer to the start of the 2023 season. The Eagles lost the Super Bowl in heartbreaking fashion last year, but the team should be even better in 2023. Will their internal improvements be enough to finally earn another Lombardi trophy?

Philadelphia Eagles Schedule: Predicting Every Game

Week 1: at New England Patriots

The lone weakness in the New England Patriots defense is mobile quarterbacks, so this team will have their hands full trying to stop Jalen Hurts. The Eagles will probably put up a lot of points, and Mac Jones does not have the ability to match the Eagles in a shootout.

Prediction: Eagles win, 1-0 record

Week 2: vs Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings went 11-0 in one-score games last year. Chances are, any improvements to the roster will be easily offset by the natural regression from being that lucky in close games. This team should still compete for the division, but they’re not ready to take down a team as talented as the Eagles.

Prediction: Eagles win, 2-0 record

Week 3: at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers have the worst head coach in football, an aging roster, and Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask batting for the starting job. This is going to get real ugly, real fast.

Prediction: Eagles win, 3-0 record

Week 4: vs Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders handed the 2022 Philadelphia Eagles their first loss of the season, but can they do it again? Well, maybe, but it probably won’t happen in Philadelphia. The Commanders aren’t a bad team by any stretch of the imagination, but they’re not nearly as talented as the Eagles.

Prediction: Eagles win, 4-0 record

Week 5: at Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams went all-in for their Super Bowl, and now the bill has come due. Obviously, going all-in was worth it, but this team is going to be hard to watch in 2023.

Prediction: Eagles win, 5-0 record

Week 6: at New York Jets

What happens when you take a seven-win roster and replace the worst quarterback in the league with a four-time NFL MVP? We won’t know that answer until the season actually starts, but the result should be one of the best teams in the league. This one could go either way, but home-field advantage gives the edge to the Jets.

Prediction: Eagles lose, 5-1 record

Week 7: vs Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins should fight for a playoff spot as long as Tua Tagovailoa is on the field, but they’re probably not ready to go blow-for-blow with Philadelphia. The Eagles have one of the most complete rosters in the league and they should be able to overpower Miami’s questionable offensive line. This will be a close game, but it’s one the Eagles should win.

Prediction: Eagles win, 6-1 record

Week 8: at Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders actually have a pretty decent roster with talent on every level of the defense and a potentially great wide receiver trio. The biggest question is quarterback, where former fifth-round pick Sam Howell is set to start under center. As someone that believed in Howell as a prospect, I believe the quarterback is capable of pulling off the upset with home-field advantage.

Prediction: Eagles lose, 6-2 record

Week 9: vs Dallas Cowboys

Arguably the two best teams in the NFC face off in a game that should have massive implications for the division crown. Dak Prescott should bounce back from a disappointing 2022 with Brandin Cooks and a healthy Michael Gallup accompanying CeeDee Lamb, and this defense should be one of the best in the league. Fortunately, the Eagles have the talent to match the Cowboys offensively and defensively and should come away with a hard-earned win.

Prediction: Eagles win, 7-2 record

Week 11: at Kansas City Chiefs

The Philadelphia Eagles came one or two plays from winning it all last season, and now they get their revenge on the road. As mentioned earlier, the Eagles should be better in 2023 than they were in 2022, but the Chiefs have largely stayed the same. These are the two best teams in the league, but the Philadelphia Eagles get the slight edge here since the schedule allows them to play this game right after their bye week.

Prediction: Eagles win, 8-2 record

Week 12: vs Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are one of the few teams that can match the Eagles in both overall roster talent and quarterback play. Josh Allen was the MVP frontrunner before injuring his elbow, and he should be even better in 2023 now that he’s healthy and has a reliable tight end in Dalton Kincaid. Even though the Eagles will have home-field advantage, they’ll have a hard time winning this one.

Prediction: Eagles lose, 8-3 record

Week 13: vs San Francisco 49ers

Brock Purdy should be back to 100% by this point in the season, which means that we’ll finally get the NFC Championship Game we were promised. While Purdy’s absence had an undeniable effect on the final score, it’s also worth mentioning that the San Francisco 49ers defense couldn’t do anything to stop Philadelphia’s offense. Unless Kyle Shanahan comes up with a dramatically different gameplan, the Eagles should win this one.

Prediction: Eagles win, 9-3 record

Week 14: at Dallas Cowboys

It’s hard to overstate just how evenly matched these two teams are. With the talent being roughly a wash, we’ll let home-field advantage decide the winner of the second matchup.

Prediction: Eagles lose, 9-4 record

Week 15: at Seattle Seahawks

Geno Smith surprised everyone last year, and while he did slow down a bit near the end of the season, he’s still a decent quarterback on a roster with a lot more talent than last year. They can beat most teams, but the Eagles aren’t most teams.

Prediction: Eagles win, 10-4 record

Week 16: vs New York Giants

It’s going to take a while before this division rival pops up on the Philadelphia Eagles schedule. The New York Giants dramatically overachieved last year, and regression is going to catch them in 2023. Daniel Jones is not worth his contract, the wide receiver room is still a nightmare, and the defense isn’t anything special. Brian Daboll is a great coach, but he’s not going to be able to power the Giants past the juggernaut that is the Philadelphia Eagles.

Prediction: Eagles win, 11-4 record

Week 17: vs Arizona Cardinals

There are few guarantees in life, but here’s one of them: the Philadelphia Eagles will beat old friend Jonathan Gannon and the Arizona Cardinals in 2023. Arizona’s roster lacks talent on both sides of the ball, and there is a real chance that Kyler Murray won’t be playing his like old self at any point in the season.

Prediction: Eagles win, 12-4 record

Week 18: at New York Giants

See above. The Giants will probably hover around .500 in 2023, and a team like that simply isn’t good enough to be expected to beat the Eagles.
