2022 was a roller coaster of a season for Johnathan Abram. The former first-round pick entered the offseason with the Las Vegas Raiders when first-year head coach Josh McDaniels decided that he would not pick up Abrams’ fifth-year option. While he did make the Week 1 roster, he didn’t survive the full season.

The Raiders cut Abram after eight games, and the safety landed with the Green Bay Packers. That stint didn’t last long, however, as Green Bay cut him after just two games. Fortunately, that wasn’t the end of Abram’s road, as he spent the final five games of the season with the Seattle Seahawks. In total, Abram played in 15 games with three separate franchises, recording 60 tackles, two quarterback hits, three passes defended, and no interceptions.

Johnathan Abram originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Selected by the then-Oakland Raiders, the Mississippi State’s rookie season ended before it ever truly began. While he did earn the Week 1 starting job, he suffered a torn rotator cuff and labrum in his professional debut, sidelining him for the remainder of the season.

Abram returned to the lineup in 2020 and started in all 13 games in which he appeared. While on the field, the safety recorded 86 tackles, three tackles-for-loss, four quarterback hits, two interceptions, and six passes defended. The following season, Abram started 14 games while recording a career-high 116 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, three quarterback hits, one interception, and four passes defended.

Since signing his rookie contract, Johnathan Abram has appeared in 43 games while making 36 starts. During his time on the field, the Mississippi State product has recorded 267 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, nine quarterback hits, and three interceptions.
