Ferrell spent the majority of the 2022 season as a rotational player for the Las Vegas Raiders. Playing in 16 games while making four starts, the former first-round pick finished his season with two sacks, 26 tackles, three tackles-for-loss, and eight quarterback hits.

Ferrell originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Selected by the then-Oakland Raiders, the Clemson product was one of the biggest surprises on draft night. While most analysts had him as a late-first or early-second-round pick, Jon Gruden and the Raiders saw something in Ferrell that made them select him with the fourth-overall pick. Gruden’s faith in Ferrell continued into the regular season, when the defensive end started all 15 games in which he played. While on the field, the Clemson product recorded 4.5 sacks, 38 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, eight quarterback hits, and five passes defended.

Ferrell maintained his starting job into the 2020 season. While injuries limited him to just 11 games, he remained the starter and recorded two sacks, 27 tackles, three tackles-for-loss, a career-high 10 quarterback hits, three passes defended, and two forced fumbles.

Ferrell lost his starting job in 2021 but remained a rotational player for the playoff-bound Las Vegas Raiders. Appearing in 16 of a possible 17 games, the edge defender finished the year with 1.5 sacks, 14 tackles, one tackle-for-loss, six quarterback hits, and one pass defended. As a first-round pick, Ferrell had a fifth-year option included in his contract, but the Raiders decided not to pick it up.

Since signing his rookie contract, Clelin Ferrell has appeared in 58 games, while making 30 starts. During his time on the field, the Clemson product has recorded 10 sacks, 105 tackles, 15 tackles-for-loss, and 32 quarterback hits.
