Ebukam enters free agency on the heels of what could easily be his best season to date. Starting and appearing in 15 games for a great San Francisco 49ers defense, the six-year pro finished the season with five sacks, 36 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss, 13 quarterback hits, and one pass defended. With his help, the 49ers made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game before falling to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Samson Ebukam originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Selected by the Los Angeles Rams, the East Washington product had a relatively slow start to his career. Appearing in 16 games while making two starts, the rookie finished his inaugural campaign with two sacks, 31 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, five quarterback hits, and one forced fumble.

After spending 2017 as a situational rusher, Ebukam earned a starting job in 2018. Appearing in 16 games while making 14 starts, the edge defender finished the season with three sacks, 40 tackles, six tackles-for-loss, six quarterback hits, three forced fumbles, and one interception. The Rams made it all the way to the Super Bowl, but lost the big game to the New England Patriots.

In 2019, Ebukam saw his role decrease, but his production increase. Only starting five of the 16 games in which he played, the edge rusher finished the year with 4.5 sacks, 48 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, 10 quarterback hits, and one forced fumble.

Following another 4.5-sack season in 2020, Samson Ebukam signed a new contract with the San Francisco 49ers. During his first year with the team, the East Washington product recorded 4.5 sacks, 38 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, 11 quarterback hits, and one forced fumble.
