Odell Beckham Jr Update: Five Teams Emerge As Frontrunners

NFL insider Josina Anderson posted an update on free agent Odell Beckham, listing the top five teams in contention for his services.
Odell Beckham Update

The latest league update involving superstar wide receiver and reigning Super Bowl champion Odell Beckham Jr suggests that the reigning Super Bowl MVP has narrowed his next NFL home down to five teams. According to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports, Beckham is set to visit with the New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, and Dallas Cowboys early in December and is still maintaining contact with the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs.

With the trade deadline long gone, Beckham is easily the best player available on the market and his presence would be a much-welcome addition to any of the aforementioned teams. However, which team has the best odds of landing him?

Odell Beckham Jr Update: Five Teams Favored To Land Star Wide Receiver

New York Giants

The New York Giants are one of the biggest surprises of the entire 2022 season. Led by first-year head coach Brian Daboll, New York currently finds itself in the thick of the playoff race thanks to its 7-4 record. Daniel Jones has improved during his fourth year in the league, but he needs a top-tier playmaker to take his game to the next level. Just about pass-catching talent on the roster has battled some type of ailment this year, and a healthy body like Beckham should bring out the best in Jones. Beckham, meanwhile, would probably like to return to his old team and help bring them back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

Buffalo Bills

The rich just get richer. The Buffalo Bills have arguably the most complete roster in football led by a top-three quarterback/head coach duo in Josh Allen and Sean McDermott. This team doesn’t have any real weakness, but you can never have too many reliable offensive weapons. Stopping Stefon Diggs is almost impossible, but trying to stop him and Gabriel Davis and Odell Beckham is just unfair. As long as Josh Allen keeps playing like an MVP, then the team should be one of the top Super Bowl favorites, with or without Beckham.

Dallas Cowboys

After years of Dak Prescott carrying a terrible Dallas defense, the shoe is finally on the other foot. The Cowboys have arguably the best defense in football, but the Cowboys offense isn’t quite holding up their end of the bargain. While it’s not a terrible unit by any stretch of the imagination, they could clearly use another receiver. It seems like everyone on the team is openly talking about Beckham, but only time will tell if this is because they have an inside path to Beckham, or if they’re just overconfident in their recruiting abilities.

Kansas City Chiefs

If the Kansas City Chiefs could stay healthy, Beckham would be nothing more than an added piece in an already-lethal passing attack. Unfortunately for the Chiefs, their receivers cannot stay on the field. Juju Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are back, but Mecole Hardman is still on the injured reserve and Kadarius Toney re-aggravated his hamstring injury. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid can make anybody look good, but adding a proven threat like Beckham would create the most unstoppable passing attack in football if everyone is healthy down the stretch.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens need a receiver worse than anyone else on this list. Put it this way, when Demarcus Robinson is your top option, things aren’t good. Mark Andrews is a stud and Isaiah Likely looks promising, but the rest of the depth chart leaves a lot to be desired. Rashod Bateman is done for the year, and guys like Robinson, Devin Duvernay, and James Proche are better off as depth options. This is always going to be a run-first option, so Beckham might not get as many targets here as he would otherwise, but he’d clearly be the best receiver on the roster.
