Five Teams That Should Trade For DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf is the latest trade candidate in the NFL and should have no shortage of suitors if moved.
DK Metcalf Trade

If this offseason has taught us anything, it’s that nobody is safe on their current roster. This has been perhaps the wildest offseason in recent memory, with big names like Russell Wilson, Davante Adams, and Tyreek Hill all finding new homes in the past month. The Seattle Seahawks are entering a full-on rebuild and might want to maximize the trade value of wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Metcalf is entering the final year of his contract, and it sounds like there is a very real chance the team does not re-sign him following the market explosion at the position. If the team decides to part ways, the following five teams would make the most sense as a potential trade partner.

Top Five Team Fits For A DK Metcalf Trade

1. Philadelphia Eagles

It is no secret that the Philadelphia Eagles are looking for ways to improve their wide receiver room. DeVonta Smith showed some promise as a rookie, but aside from him, the team does not have much in terms of proven commodities at the position. The Eagles have tons of draft capital, and they probably won’t use it to trade up and find a replacement for Jalen Hurts. With that in mind, Philadelphia could easily outbid other teams for Metcalf’s services without mortgaging their future.

2. New York Jets

The New York Jets were the runners up in the Tyreek Hill sweepstakes, so they clearly want to give Zach Wilson some better weapons. Corey Davis proved in Tennessee that he can be a fine WR2, but he’s at his best when he’s running routes alongside a superstar. Finding your franchise quarterback is the most important part of any team, and if Metcalf can help Wilson reach that ceiling, then he’ll be worth everything the team gives up to get him.

3. Kansas City Chiefs

Speaking of teams with an abundance of draft capital, the Kansas City Chiefs desperately need an outside receiver following the trade of Tyreek Hill. Hill is the most dangerous non-quarterback in football, but Metcalf is the next best thing. Marquez Valdes-Scantling may have already signed a three-year deal, but he shouldn’t stop Kansas City from trying to upgrade their aerial attack. The Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid, so their offense will be great without Metcalf. However, with Metcalf, they should be the best offense in football and the clear favorites in a stacked AFC West.

4. Buffalo Bills

If the Buffalo Bills truly believe in Gabriel Davis as a starting-caliber receiver, they will not trade for DK Metcalf. However, if they view him as more of a good third receiver, then they should definitely entertain the idea of trading for the young superstar. The Bills have yet to identify their Emmanuel Sanders replacement, and Metcalf would obviously be a huge upgrade. The duo of Metcalf and Stefon Diggs would rival any in the league, and with Josh Allen throwing the ball, this offense could score with anyone.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive scheme requires elite talent at wide receiver in order to function. Right now, the team has Mike Evans, an injured Chris Godwin, and not much else. Russell Gage is a nice role player, and the trio of Tyler Johnson, Scotty Miller, and Jaelon Darden couldn’t do anything with their opportunities last season. The Buccaneers are clearly all-in with Tom Brady, so they maximize the present by giving up a pick to combine Evans and Metcalf with the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.
