Running back Phillip Lindsay has signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans. The deal will keep Lindsay with the team through 2021. Lindsay has spent all three years of his career so far with the Denver Broncos.

Lindsay saw his production compared to the previous two years take a large dip. This was mostly because of Melvin Gordon getting the bulk of the carries, despite the original implication that the carries would be a bit more split. However, he also missed five games due to injury. Lindsay finished the 2020 season with 502 yards and just one touchdown. He also only had seven receptions for 28 yards, after having had 35 receptions each of the previous two years.

Lindsay played football in high school at South High School in Denver, Colorado. He then played with the University of Colorado from 2014 to 2017 after redshirting during the 2013 season. He crossed the 1,000-yard mark in both 2016 and 2017 and made the Second-Team All-PAC-12 in 2016 as a result.

Lindsay went undrafted in 2018 and was ultimately signed by the Broncos. After a strong preseason, he made the final roster and quickly made his way up the depth chart to become the most prolific Broncos halfback, going for 1,037 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Lindsay made his lone Pro Bowl so far that year as a result and became the first undrafted offensive rookie to make a Pro Bowl in league history. He was also named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

Lindsay became the full-time starter in 2019, and went for another 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns, making him the first undrafted player ever to cross the 1,000-yard rushing mark in his first two seasons.

So far in his career, Lindsay has 2,550 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns, as well as 465 receiving yards and one touchdown. Also of note is that he has fumbled zero times in his three-year career.
