NFL cornerback Desmond Trufant signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears. Trufant spent the 2020 season with the Detroit Lions.

Desmond Trufant was born on September 10th, 1990 in Tacoma Washington. The Atlanta Falcons drafted Trufant 22nd overall in the 2013 NFL Draft. The Falcons signed Trufant to a four-year contract worth $8.16 million. The Falcons released Trufant on March 18, 2020. Trufant signed with the Lions on March 25th, for two years and $21 million. The Lions released Trufant on March 4th, 2021.

During the 2020-21 season in six games played, Trufant completed one interception and defended four passes. Additionally, Trufant completed 16 solo and four assisted tackles with one quarterback hit, In week one, Trufant suffered a hamstring strain against the Chicago Bears; consequently, leading him to miss two games. Additionally, Trufant suffered a second hamstring strain during week 2, which caused him to miss three games. The Lions did not make the playoffs,

During the 2019-20 season in nine games played, Trufant completed four interceptions of 26 yards with seven passes defended. Additionally, Trufant had 13 solo and five assisted tackles. During week 14 against the Carolina Panthers, Trufant suffered a broken forearm, which ended his season.

During the 2018-19 season in 16 games played, Trufant completed 55 solo and 11 assisted tackles with one Quarterback hit and 12 passes defended. Trufant, in the 2017-18 season, had two interceptions for 43 yards in 15 games. On top of that, he completed 36 solo and five assisted tackles with one quarterback hit and 12 passes defended. In two playoff games, Trufant had eight solo and one assisted tackles while defending two passes. The Falcons would lose to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional playoffs.

During the 2016-17 season in 9 games, Trufant completed one interception for nine yards and defended four passes. Additionally, Trufant completed 25 solo and six assisted tackles with two quarterback hits. Trufant suffered a shoulder injury during week nine against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that would require surgery.
