Four-year NFL tight end Anthony Firkser signed a one-year contract with the Tennessee Titans. Firkser, a former undrafted free agent, spent the 2020 season with the Titans but has also spent time with the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs.

Anthony Firkser is coming off what might just be the best season of his young carer. Appearing in all 16 games, the Harvard product recorded 39 receptions on 53 targets for 387 yards and one touchdown. The yards and receptions were career highs, and he also provided valuable work in the trenches while backing up Jonnu Smith.

Firkser initially entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent following the 2017 NFL Draft. Initially signing with the New York Jets, Firkser faced the unenviable task of trying to earn a spot on the Week 1 roster. Ultimately, the fullback/tight end hybrid couldn’t get the job done and spent the first portion of the 2017 season out of the league. However, the Harvard product revived his NFL dreams by signing with Kansas City’s practice squad in November of 2017. The Chiefs signed Firkser to a futures contract following the season but released him in April of 2018.

The Titans took a shot of Firkser in May of 2018, and that gamble paid off. After a strong preseason, Firkser earned a spot on Tennessee’s initial 53-man roster and stayed there for the majority of the season. In total, Firkser appeared in 12 games while recording 19 receptions for 225 yards and a touchdown on 20 targets.

Firkser returned for 2019 but hardly saw the field early in the season. However, once Delanie Walker suffered an injury, Firkser had a chance to prove his worth to the team. Overall, he caught 14 passes on 24 targets for 204 yards and a touchdown, with most of that production coming in the back half of the year. Throughout the course of his career, Firkser has recorded 72 receptions for 816 yards and three touchdowns.
