The Cowboys signed Dalton as the backup quarterback to Dak Prescott in 2020. Dalton made his debut for the Cowboys in Week 5 against the New York Giants during which Prescott left the game with a season-ending ankle injury. Prescott’s injury led to Dalton being named the starter the following week on Monday Night Football against the Arizona Cardinals. He started 10 games for Dallas in 2020, as the team missed the playoffs with a 6-10 record. Dalton threw for 2,170 passing yards and 12 touchdowns to eight interceptions.

Dalton has played the vast majority of his career so far in Cincinnati. His best year for the Bengals came in 2015 when Dalton was in the race for the Most Valuable Player Award. He suffered a fractured thumb in his throwing hand against the Pittsburgh Steelers that ended his season before the playoffs. Cincinnati had a 10-3 record at the time of the injury. Dalton ended the season with a 106.2 quarterback rating, the highest of his career.

Andy Dalton made four playoff starts during his time in Cincinnati but never led his team to a victory in the postseason. In four postseason starts, Dalton has thrown only one touchdown pass to six interceptions and has a career quarterback rating of 57.8 in playoff appearances.  However, the quarterback has been voted to three Pro Bowls, in 2011, 2014, and 2016 respectively. For his career so far, Dalton has amassed 33,764 passing yards and 218 passing touchdowns in 143 starts.

The Bengals selected Dalton with the 35th overall pick in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft. He was the fifth quarterback taken in the draft. Dalton improved every year as the starting quarterback for Texas Christian University in college. He led the TCU Horned Frogs to a 13-0 undefeated season and number two ranking in the AP Poll his senior year.
