Henry Anderson Signs With New England Patriots

Defensive lineman Henry Anderson is no longer a free agent after signing his new contract. Anderson spent 2020 with the New York Jets.

NFL defensive lineman Henry Anderson signed a two-year contract with the New England Patriots. Anderson spent the 2020 season with the New York Jets.

Henry Wyatt Anderson was born in Atlanta, Georgia in was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts, 93rd overall, in the 2015 NFL draft. The Colts traded Anderson to the Jets on April 28th, 2018 for a seventh-round pick. Anderson signed a three-year, $25.2 million extension with the Jets on March 12, 2019. On March 2, 2021; however, the Jets cut Anderson.

During the 2020-21 season in 16 games, Anderson completed 19 solo and 23 assisted tackles with three quarterback hits. During the 2019-20 season in 13 games, Anderson completed 14 solo and 11 assisted tackles with nine quarterback hits. Due to a late hit on Josh Allen in a game against the Buffalo Bills, Anderson was fined $10, 527 for unnecessary roughness.

During the 2018-19 season in 16 games, Anderson completed 22 solo, and 13 assisted tackles with 16 quarterback hits. Anderson was accused of a dirty hit against Bills kicker Stephen Hauschka that resulted in a hip injury. The NFL did not fine Anderson for the hit.

During the 2017-18 season in nine games, Anderson completed 15 solo and seven assisted tackles with four quarterback hits. Anderson suffered a fractured larynx during a game against the Houston Texans. The injury ended Anderson’s season.

During the 2016-17 season in 11 games, Anderson completed nine solo and three assisted tackles with five quarterback hits. Previously in the 2015-16 season, Anderson completed 19 solo and 12 assisted tackles with four quarterback hits in nine games. Anderson suffered a knee injury in week nine against the Denver Broncos. The injury ended Anderson’s rookie season.

Anderson attended Stanford college for four years and played for the Stanford Cardinals. In college, Anderson completed 77 solo and 64 assisted tackles for 31 yards lost total. As well, Anderson had eight sacks, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble. Anderson played in 33 games over the four years.
