Deatrich Wise is coming off arguably the best season of his young career. While he missed the playoffs for the first time since joining the league, the Arkansas product set a career high in starts (7) and tackles (49) while recording 2.5 sacks, 11 quarterback hits, two tackles-for-loss, and one fumble recovery that turned into a touchdown. This was the first and only touchdown of his professional career.

Wise initially entered the league as a fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Selected by the New England Patriots, Wise made an immediate impact as a situational pass rusher. In total, the rookie finished his season with five sacks, 19 quarterback hits, 26 tackles, and six tackles-for-loss. Thanks to his help, New England made it to Super Bowl LI but ultimately fell short to Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Wise continued where he left off in 2018, playing in all 16 games while earning five starts. While on the field, the edge defender recorded 4.5 sacks, 16 quarterback hits, four tackles-for-loss, and 30 tackles. While his overall numbers decreased, the defense as a whole improved and played a large part in winning Super Bowl LIII against the Los Angeles Rams.

Wise’s role decreased in 2019, thanks to the signings of several big-name defensive pieces and the departure of de-facto defensive coordinator Brian Flores. Still, the Arkansas product managed to play in 14 games (three starts) while adding two sacks, 10 quarterback hits, three tackles-for-loss, and 26 total tackles. Throughout the course of his career, Wise has appeared in 62 of a possible 64 regular season games while recording 14 sacks, 56 quarterback hits, 15 tackles-for-loss, and 131 tackles.
