Cedric Ogbuehi Signs With Seattle Seahawks

Cedric Ogbuehi is a five-year veteran. The 6’5” 310 pound offensive tackle was selected in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 21st overall pick. His first contract was a four year, $9.32 million contract. $8.72 million of the contract was guaranteed at signing along with a $5.04 million signing bonus.

Ogbuehi only played in five games in his rookie season. He tore his ACL in January of 2015 during the Liberty Bowl. Because of that, the Bengals exercised caution with their young first rounder. He played for 65 snaps in the 2015 season and had just one penalty, a false start.

For the next two seasons, Ogbuehi played in 14 games each year. He started in 12 games in 2016 and 13 games in 2017. He played the majority of the 2016 season at right tackle after winning the starting job in training camp. However, he moved over to left tackle at the end of his sophomore campaign. He tore his rotator cuff at the end of the 2016 season and missed the final game. In the 2017 season, though he played in 14 games and started in 13, he was not impressive enough for the coaching staff.

Ogbuehi was a healthy scratch for the majority of the 2018 season, only playing in two games. The Bengals decided not to pick up Ogbuehi’s fifth year option, which made him a free agent. The Jacksonville Jaguars signed him to a one year contract for the 2019 season. Ogbuehi played in 14 games in 2019, but did not start any.

Ogbuehi is originally from Allen, Texas. He attended college at Texas A&M. As a college athlete, Ogbuehi earned First-Team All SEC honors and First-Team honors from the Walter Camp Football foundation in 2014.
