Sam Darnold

Week 13 of the NFL season is right around the corner, and fantasy football owners everywhere are trying to optimize their lineups. Deciding on who to start and sit isn’t easy, especially when a player like Sam Darnold gets hot. Let’s take a dive into all of the best start em’, sit em’ matchups of the week to put together the best possible lineup.

Sam Darnold, Philip Rivers Highlight Fantasy Football Week 13 Quarterback Start Sits

Start: Sam Darnold

After one of the strangest starts to the season in recent memory, Sam Darnold is back to being a reliable fantasy football quarterback. The former third-overall pick is playing up to his draft stock, recording 608 yards, six touchdowns, and just one interception over the past two games. Darnold faces another favorable matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals and should continue to be a smart streaming option.

Sit: Philip Rivers

This could very well be the end of Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers. Forced to play behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league, years of physical abuse appear to be catching up to the former first-round pick. Over the last two week, Rivers has completed just 54% of his passes for 560 yards, three touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He’s a turnover machine going up against a strong defense in the Denver Broncos in what should be a low-scoring game.

Start: Tom Brady

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady should be much better in the second half of the season than he was in the first. Protection matters for Brady, and his offensive line should be considerably better with Isaiah Wynn back in the picture. Additionally, getting first-round pick N’Keal Harry and Mohamed Sanu back on the field won’t hurt either. Brady still has a strong arm and should put up a strong fantasy performance now that he’s not playing in a monsoon.

Sit: Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones is one of the most volatile passers in the league. While he has the ability to put up a big game at a moments’ notice, he’s also incredibly careless with the ball. His penchant for turnovers can be a killer for fantasy football, and he’s going up against a ferocious pass-rushing duo in the Green Bay Packers. The Packers should pressure Jones early and often, leading to fumbles and a few ill-advised passes.

Start: Carson Wentz

Carson Wentz has not been good for fantasy football in quite some time. The former second-overall pick hasn’t thrown more than one touchdown since Week 6 and is struggling to develop chemistry with Philadelphia’s underwhelming receivers. However, Wentz should bounce back with a strong game against a putrid Miami Dolphins team. At least one of Alshon Jeffery or Nelson Agholor should be back, so Wentz will have a reliable option in the passing game.

Sit: Jimmy Garoppolo

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo can take advantage of a bad defense, but he’s yet to prove that he can move the chains against one of the best in the league. Since acquiring Marcus Peters, the Baltimore Ravens have transformed from a below-average defense into one of the NFL’s premier units. Garoppolo is going to struggle through the air and will probably turn the ball over once or twice. Ultimately, you’re better off leaving him on the bench for this matchup.
