Fantasy Football Week 9 Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Claims: Chris Conley, Danny Amendola, More

Fantasy Football Week 9 Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Claims: Chris Conley and Danny Amendola are set to have fantasy success in Week 9.
Chris Conley

Eight weeks of NFL play are officially in the books, which means bye weeks are in full swing. Gone are the days where you could just coast by on a strong draft. Now more than ever, you’ll need to search the waiver wire for all the best available wide receivers. Heading into Week 9, you should set your eyes on Chris Conley, Danny Amendola, Josh Reynolds, and Darius Slayton.

Note that in order to make this list, the player had to be available in over 50% of fantasy leagues. If you’re in smaller leagues, there may be better players available. Make sure to check your waivers to see if there are any diamonds in the rough before submitting your claims.

Chris Conley, D.J. Chark Highlight Fantasy Football Week 9 Wide Reciever Waiver Wire Claims

Chris Conley

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a solid passing offense with Gardner Minshew running the show, and Chris Conley has the opportunity to earn a decent share of targets in Week 9. Dede Westbrook suffered a neck injury during Week 8 and didn’t return to the game. In his absence, Chris Conley went off to the tune of four receptions for 103 yards and one touchdown on seven targets.

D.J. Chark will remain the top option in the passing game, but Chris Conley should be a solid WR2 or flex play if Dede Westbrook misses another week. Minshew clearly likes Conley, and Conley has the speed to produce a solid fantasy outing on just one touch. Even if Westbrook can play, Conley still recorded eight targets in Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Danny Amendola

Detroit Lions wide receiver Danny Amendola always has one or two big fantasy weeks mixed in between weeks of fantasy irrelevance. However, it should be safe to stream Amendola moving forward. Matthew Stafford loves targeting slot receivers, and Amendola is finally healthy enough to haul in all of Stafford’s targets. The former New England Patriot ended Week 8 with eight receptions for 95 yards on eight targets. This was the second straight week in which he had a big game, as he recorded eight receptions for 105 yards one week earlier.

Amendola recorded 104 receiving yards and a touchdown in Week 1 before suffering a minor injury in Week 2. He appears to be fully recovered and faces a favorable matchup against the Oakland Raiders in Week 9. If you’re playing in a PPR league, Amendola can be a solid wide receiver stream.

Josh Reynolds

The Los Angeles Rams have a Week 9 bye, so don’t grab Josh Reynolds if you’re looking for a Week 9 fill-in. However, if you’re looking ahead, Josh Reynolds is a great add for Week 10. Six teams have a bye in Week 10, and smart fantasy football owners should get ahead of the inevitable nightmare that is the Week 10 waiver wire.

Brandin Cooks suffered yet another concussion during Week 8’s matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. This is far from Cooks’ only battle with head injuries, so he could be down for the next few weeks. In his absence, Reynolds stepped onto the field and recorded three receptions for 73 yards and one touchdown on eight targets.

Darius Slayton

Darius Slayton had a fantastic outing in Week 8, but using waiver wire priority on him is simply chasing points. While he finished with 50 yards and two touchdowns, that production came on just two targets. He can’t possibly sustain that level of success moving forward, which means he’s not worth wasting waiver priority. That said, he’s always on the field and should see a high snap count as long as Sterling Shepard remains on the sideline. Don’t grab him early, but you can add him to your bench after the initial round of waivers.
