It’s only Week One, but Nick Foles‘ season may be all but over. Foles only played in the first quarter. He left the game after taking a hit on the same play as a 35-yard touchdown pass. This is discouraging news for Jacksonville Jaguars fans. Foles signed a four-year $88 million contract to join the team in free agency. Foles announced in the post-game presser that he will undergo surgery tomorrow to repair his shoulder.

Nick Foles Could Miss Significant Time With Shoulder Injury

Foles is a Philadelphia Eagles folk hero. He came in for an injured Carson Wentz and was magical, becoming a Super Bowl MVP in the process. Unfortunately for the Jaguars, Foles may not see the field for a while.

Foles looked to have a promising start to the day. He threw a perfect touchdown pass to D.J. Chark for 35 yards in the first quarter. On that same play, however, he was hit after the throw. Foles was visibly in pain as he clutched his left arm. He had to leave for the locker room immediately to have the injury evaluated. He did not see the field for the rest of the day and came back to the sideline with a sling on. Foles was five of eight for 79 yards and one touchdown before exiting the game.

Rookie sixth-round draft pick Gardner Minshew entered the game in relief of Foles. The young player did about as well as you could expect in this situation. He was 22 for 25 for 275 yards, along with two touchdowns and one pick. He’ll have to learn quickly with the amount of time Foles will miss. Minshew would do well to take as much advice as possible from Foles. He’s in the same situation as the former Super Bowl MVP, although at a much earlier point in his career.
