Jacksonville Jaguars 2019 Schedule Release Reaction

The Jacksonville Jaguars 2019 schedule has been released. Here's a look and some thoughts on the highlights of the schedule.
Jaguars 2019 Schedule

The wait is over. The Jacksonville Jaguars 2019 schedule is out. And there aren’t too many surprises. Yet again, the team has one prime time game. However, the team will see its fair share of tough opponents and some interesting home games.

Jacksonville Jaguars 2019 Schedule Highlights

Week One vs. Kansas City

The Jags will face the Kansas City Chiefs at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville to open the season. The 2017 AFC runner up against the 2018 AFC runner up. Patrick Mahomes and Nick Foles. These two teams will look different than when they faced each other in 2018. The Chiefs no longer have Kareem Hunt and Tyreek Hill likely won’t be playing. The Jaguars will, of course, have a new man under center in Foles. This is an exciting matchup on paper.

Week Three vs. Tennessee in Prime Time

This is the lone prime time game for the Jaguars in 2019. The same tired Thursday night matchup that the Jaguars have been dealing with in recent years is here in 2019. The Jags will look to break the stranglehold that the Tennessee Titans seems to have on them. An all teal color rush should be something to look forward to.

Week Nine vs. Houston in London

This is another example of the NFL executives shafting the Jacksonville fan base. The Jags are playing a divisional “home game” in London against the Houston Texans. Regardless of the team’s deal to play one game in London, season ticket holders are losing out on a chance to see a divisional matchup in person. Not only does Jacksonville sparingly receive prime time games, but now they are playing one of their divisional games in London this year.

Week 17 vs. Indianapolis to Close out Regular Season

The Jaguars will play the final regular season game of 2019 in Jacksonville for the first time since 2011. Their opponent is the Indianapolis Colts. The Jags split games with the Colts last season, each team winning their home match up. If the past is any indication, this game could be a big factor going into the postseason. A divisional matchup at home is definitely favorable. Perhaps Jacksonville won’t be in a position where they need to win this game to reach the postseason, but if they are, a home matchup is a godsend.

The Last Word

The Jaguars 2019 schedule is full of exciting opponents. They will face Mahomes, Drew Brees, and Cam Newton at home. Also, they will be facing seven teams that made the playoffs in 2018. Facing the Colts to close out the regular season could be an important game at home. Jacksonville’s bye week is Week 10 so they will have close to an even split of games after the bye with seven remaining. Now on to the NFL Draft.
