The Seattle Seahawks have re-signed Russell Wilson to a new deal, the team announced. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it’s a four-year, $140 million extension. The deal carries with it $107 million in guarantees and includes a no-trade clause.
Wilson was last extended by the team in 2015 on a four-year $87.6 million contract. In a press conference by Pete Carroll following their wild-card playoff loss to the Dallas Cowboys, he assured that Wilson, along with a few others, were priorities to get re-signed once the off-season hit.

Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson Agree to New Contract
Russell Wilson’s story with the Seattle Seahawks has been a good one. He started his collegiate career at NC State before transferring to Wisconsin for his final two seasons. While in college, Wilson also played baseball and was drafted by the Colorado Rockies and later acquired by the Texas Rangers. The Seahawks then drafted him in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft, despite warnings about his height, which was an ultimate steal since he led them to two super bowl appearances in a row (winning one) in his second and third years in the league.
Wilson has broken numerous franchise and NFL records in his career. He currently holds the most wins by a quarterback in his first seven seasons (75) and tied Peyton Manning in passing touchdowns by a rookie (which was recently broken by Baker Mayfield). Wilson arguably should have been the NFL Rookie of the Year in 2012 but instead, it went to Robert Griffin, who is now on his third team since.
Since entering the league, Wilson has been a fierce competitor, moving up the ranks as one of the top quarterbacks in the league. While Wilson already leads the franchise in all-time passing touchdowns, this deal should help Wilson cement his legacy within the franchise (if he hasn’t already) as he is only a mere 4,000 yards away from surpassing Matt Hasselbeck for the number one quarterback spot in franchise history.
