Baltimore Ravens to Sign Running Back Mark Ingram

Eight-year NFL running back Mark Ingram signed a three-year, $15 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens. It came virtually minutes after the club brought in safety Earl Thomas. Ingram, a product of the University of Alabama, has spent the entirety of his NFL career with the New Orleans Saints.

Ingram served a four-game suspension to start the 2018 season, but returned for the final 12 games. Splitting playing time with fellow running back Alvin Kamara, Ingram finished his season with 645 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 138 rushing attempts. Additionally, Ingram added 21 receptions for 170 yards and a touchdown through the air.

Mark Ingram initially entered the NFL as the New Orleans Saints’ first-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Playing in 10 games as a rookie, the Alabama product recorded 474 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 122 attempts. Throughout his career, Ingram has 6,007 rushing yards and 75 rushing touchdowns on 1,321 carries. Additionally, Ingram has 228 receptions, 1,598 receiving yards, and five receiving touchdowns to his name.

Ingram’s best season likely came back in 2017. Playing in all 16 games (starting 13), Ingram recorded a career-high 1,124 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 230 rushing attempts. On top of that, Ingram recorded a career-high 58 receptions for 416 yards while earning the second Pro-Bowl selection of his career.

Prior to joining the NFL, Ingram spent three years at the University of Alabama. Throughout his collegiate tenure, Ingram recorded 3,261 rushing yards and 42 touchdowns on an effective 5.7 yards-per-carry. Ingram’s best season came in 2009 when he recorded 1,658 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on 271 attempts. The then-sophomore also recorded 32 receptions for 334 yards and three touchdowns. His impressive performance earned him First-Team All-American honors as well as the 2009 Heisman Trophy.

Ingram starred in football and track & field at Flint Southwestern Academy in Flint, Michigan before heading to the University of Alabama.
