John Brown Signs With the Buffalo Bills

Brown had a bit of a resurgence in 2018 after dealing with some health and injury issues the previous two years. He had an interesting year with the Ravens, as he performed quite well with Joe Flacco at quarterback but saw his looks go down heavily when Lamar Jackson replaced Flacco. Still, he had a good comeback season and will now be looking to continue his career on the right track.

Brown finished the 2018 season with 42 receptions for 715 yards and five touchdowns. Of those yards, 601 of them came in the nine games that Flacco started and only 114 coming in the seven games that Jackson started. Brown also played all 16 games for the first time since his rookie year. He also averaged a record 17 yards per catch, making himself into a reliable deep threat.

Brown played football in high school in Homestead, Florida. He started out his college playing career at Mars Hill College in North Carolina in 2009, then transferred to Coffeyville Community College in Kansas 2010 where he didn’t play at all before ending up at Pittsburg State University in the same state. Brown played there from 2011 to 2013. He finished as the latter’s all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns.

Brown was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2014 in the third round, where he stayed through the 2017 season. His best season came in 2015 when he had 1,005 yards and seven touchdowns. As previously noted, injury problems plagued him the next two seasons, when he had just over 800 yards combined. He then signed with the Ravens for the 2018 season, where he began the attempted resurgence of his career.
