Trent Brown Expected to Sign Four-Year Deal With Oakland Raiders

Trent Brown initially joined the New England Patriots in an off-season trade with the San Francisco 49ers. After drafting tackle Mike McGlinchey in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the 49ers sent Brown and a fifth-round pick to the Patriots in exchange for a third-round pick. Brown played right tackle throughout the first three years of his career but transferred to left tackle in 2018 as New England’s replacement for Nate Solder.

Brown filled in seamlessly for Solder during the 2018 season. Starting in all 16 games, Brown finished the season ranked as the 32nd-ranked tackle in the NFL, per Pro Football Focus. The massive left tackle turned his game up to another level, as New England’s offensive line helped power the Patriots to their sixth Super Bowl championship. The Patriots offensive line allowed just one sack throughout the Patriots playoff run, and Brown faced off against elite pass rushers like Melvin Ingram, Joey Bosa, and Dee Ford.

Brown initially entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers. Brown appeared in 32 of a possible 48 games, starting 28. Primarily serving as a right tackle, Brown became known for his high-level pass blocking ability. Former head coach Kyle Shanahan called Brown “the best pass-protection tackle I’ve ever seen in my life” while Denver Broncos edge defender Von Miller called him “the best right tackle in the NFL”.

Brown initially spent his collegiate tenure with the Georgia Military College. After earning All-American honors in 2012, Brown transferred to the University of Florida on a scholarship. From there, Brown spent time at tackle and guard before declaring for the 2015 NFL Draft.
