Report: Buffalo Bills Signing Frank Gore to One-Year Deal

Born in Miami, and a former Miami Hurricane in his collegiate career, Gore spent his most recent NFL year in his hometown with the Miami Dolphins. There, Gore passed Curtis Martin for fourth-most rushing yards all-time with 14,103 yards in a Week Two win against the New York Jets. His season ended in Week 15, when he suffered a sprained foot and was ruled out. His season in 2018 was the first which he completed without scoring a touchdown.

Previously, Gore has spent significant time with the Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers. The former Hurricane played all four years in college, and, despite tearing his ACL twice, was drafted by the Niners with the 65th overall pick in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft.

After a busy but painful rookie year, which was halted by a groin injury and ended with major surgery on both of his shoulders, he was listed at the top of the Niners’ depth chart going into 2006. In his first season as the starter, he set the franchise record with 1,695 yards over the course of 312 carries, becoming the first member of the Niners to lead the NFC in rushing yards. He was named the starting running back to the NFC Pro Bowl team.

Over his career with the Niners, Gore set numerous other records for the franchise, including becoming the first running back in 49ers history to rush for 1,000 yards or more in three straight seasons.

Gore signed a three-year contract with the Colts in 2015 and played out all three years. In his final year, he competed for the starting job against Marlon Mack and ultimately was not re-signed. Mack remains a starter for the franchise.

Gore’s resume boasts five Pro Bowls and an NFC Championship in 2012. At age 35, he is currently ranked number four league-wide in career rushing yards.
